Full-scale in-line HSA and CCIT platform for pharmaceutical production
The LineArch™ Plus is Gasporox’s first full-size in-house in-line inspection machine for headspace analysis (HSA). Built around our proven VialArch™ technology platform, it delivers flexible, multi-sensor headspace analysis and container closure integrity testing (CCIT) with industry proven operational efficiency.
Non-destructive
Fast format changes
Built on proven VialArch™
Unique starwheel design
Easier maintenance access, smoother container handling and simplified tool-less format changes.
Configurable Multi-sensor platform
Configure the system with 1 to 3 sensors, combining O₂, CO₂, and pressure measurements.
Proven Sensor Technology
Built around the established VialArch™ platform for reliable, non-destructive in-line inspeaction.
How does it work?
Containers are transferred by the feeding starwheel into the measurement starwheel where a laser beam is passed through the headspace of each container and the gas content is analyzed in real time, as it passes through the internal sensor modules.
This enables fast, accurate and non-destructive HSA and CCIT without the need for consumables or purging.
Minimal setup
Automatic triggering and self-calibration. Only container diameter, belt speed, and reject level needs to be defined, and the machine automatically sorts the containers.
One Machine. Multiple measurement possibilities.
The LineArch™ Plus can be configured with up to three integrated sensors, allowing you to combine multiple measurements in one platform.
Available sensors
VialArch™ O₂
Residual oxygen measurement for packaging integrity and purge control.
VialArch™ CO₂
Residual CO₂ measurement for purge verification and CCIT in lyophilised pharmaceuticals.
VialArch™ H₂O
Measures total and partial pressure for leak detection, purge verification, and headspace moisture analysis.

Frequently Asked Questions
What sensor combinations are available?
The LineArch™ Plus can be configured with up to three sensors, with sensors available for oxygen, carbon dioxide, total pressure, and partial pressure. These can be freely combined to match your specific requirements and performance expectations. For enhanced accuracy and precision, multiple sensors of the same type can also be selected to provide additional measurements.
Can the system be upgraded later?
The LineArch™ Plus is designed as a configurable platform that can be adapted to changing production requirements.
Depending on the initial configuration, additional measurement capabilities may be added later through the integration of additional sensor modules. This allows manufacturers to expand from a single measurement parameter to a broader inspection strategy without replacing the entire system.
Examples include:
- Adding oxygen measurement to an existing pressure-based setup
- Expanding from one sensor to multiple sensors
- Adapting the system to new products or packaging requirements
The available upgrade options depend on the original machine configuration and application requirements. Gasporox can evaluate upgrade possibilities on a case-by-case basis to ensure compatibility and performance.
How does the starwheel system work?
The LineArch™ Plus uses a precision-engineered starwheel transport system to guide containers through the inspection process on a single conveyorbelt.
As containers enter the machine, the starwheel securely positions and transports each container through the measurement stations. This controlled handling ensures consistent positioning during measurement, which improves measurement stability and repeatability.
The starwheel design also provides practical operational advantages:
- Stable and repeatable container positioning
- Smooth handling across supported container formats
- Easier access to machine components during maintenance
- Faster and simpler format changes
- Reduced downtime during production transitions
By combining precise container handling with flexible machine access, the starwheel architecture helps maximize production uptime while maintaining measurement performance.
What is the difference between LineArch™ and LineArch™ Plus
Both systems are designed for non-destructive inline Headspace Analysis (HSA) and Container Closure Integrity Testing (CCIT) using Gasporox laser-based sensor technology.
LineArch™ is a compact, integration-ready inspection module designed for straightforward installation into existing production lines. It is ideal for applications where a single measurement technology is required and installation space is limited.
LineArch™ Plus is a full-scale inspection platform built around the same proven sensor technology but designed for greater flexibility and scalability. Its unique starwheel architecture supports easier maintenance, faster format changes, and configurable setups with up to three integrated sensors, allowing simultaneous measurement of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and pressure-related parameters within a single machine.
Which container types can be inspected?
The system is designed for pharmaceutical parenteral containers including vials, bottles, and other compatible packaging formats. Supported formats depend on the selected sensor configuration and application.
Is LineArch™ Plus suitable for CCIT applications?
Yes. The system is designed to support deterministic Container Closure Integrity Testing (CCIT) workflows through laser-based headspace analysis.
Is the system suitable for Annex 1 environments?
Yes. The non-destructive and deterministic nature of the technology aligns well with modern pharmaceutical quality and contamination control strategies.
Does the system support USP <1207> requirements?
Yes. The technology supports deterministic CCIT methods in line with the principles described in USP <1207>.
What is the return on investment?
ROI depends on the application, but common benefits include reduced product waste, fewer manual inspections, lower maintenance requirements, improved quality assurance, and reduced risk of recalls.
Technology
The VialArch™ optical gas sensors are built on more than 25 years of development and refinement in industrial laser-based gas measurement. The system uses Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS), a highly reliable and precise method for non-destructive headspace gas analysis.
Developed by Gasporox in collaboration with its technology partners, this laser sensor technology is widely used in demanding industries such as pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, and energy.
Gasporox’s laser-based headspace analysis has been successfully deployed for over a decade in pharmaceutical manufacturing. It is integrated into fully automated inspection systems and benchtop instruments for 100% in-line and laboratory testing of vials, ampoules, and other parenteral packaging formats. The performance and robustness of the system have been validated through extensive real-world use.
