How does the GPX3000 C work?

1. Position the Container

The open holder allows for easy placement of a wide range of container types and geometries supported by inserts customized to container type and dimensions without being restricted by an enclosed fixture.

2. Find the optimal Measurement point

Adjust the container in the holder to allow the instrument to find an optimal measurement point between screw cap threads and other challenging areas is found as shown on the display.

3. Perform non-destructive analysis

The laser-based technology measures gas composition through the packaging without opening, puncturing, or otherwise damaging the container.

4. Obtain reliable results

Precise measurement positioning and state-of-the-art technology ensures repeatable and reliable results across a broad range of containers and materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

K
L
What makes the GPX3000 C different from other headspace analyzers?

The GPX3000 C features an open C-shaped holder that provides direct access to measurement locations that are difficult or impossible to reach using traditional enclosed holder systems.

This enables reliable headspace analysis of containers with high fill levels, large closures, screw cap threads, and non-standard geometries.

K
L
What challenges was the GPX3000 C designed to solve?

Many packaging formats are difficult to analyze using traditional headspace measurement systems due to limited access to the optimal measurement location.

The GPX3000 C was specifically developed to address challenges such as:

  • Containers with very high fill levels and minimal headspace
  • Screw cap closures where threads obstruct the measurement path
  • Large containers where destructive testing creates significant product waste
  • Non-standard container geometries that do not fit enclosed holder systems
  • Colored glass containers
  • Semi-opaque packaging materials such as yogurt and dairy containers
  • Applications where increased sampling is desired without sacrificing products

By combining an open C-shaped holder with precise measurement positioning, the GPX3000 C provides access to measurement points that are difficult or impossible to reach with conventional enclosed systems, enabling reliable non-destructive testing across a wider range of packaging formats.

K
L
Which container types can be measured?

The GPX3000 C supports a wide range of packaging formats, including:

  • Glass containers
  • Plastic containers
  • Colored glass containers
  • Semi-opaque containers
  • Screw cap containers
  • Pharmaceutical bottles
  • Food jars
  • Beverage containers

If you are unsure whether your packaging can be measured, Gasporox can evaluate your application.

K
L
Can the GPX3000 C measure containers with minimal headspace?

Yes.

The open holder design allows access between closure threads and other difficult measurement locations, making it suitable for products with minimal headspace and very high fill levels.

K
L
Can the GPX3000 C measure through colored glass?

Yes.

The system is capable of measuring through many colored glass containers that can be challenging for conventional measurement approaches.

Measurement feasibility depends on the specific glass type and application.

K
L
Can semi-opaque packaging materials be measured?

Yes.

The GPX3000 C can be used on a variety of semi-opaque materials, including applications such as yogurt containers and other food packaging formats.

Gasporox can perform feasibility testing for specific materials and packaging designs.

K
L
Is the measurement non-destructive?

Yes.

The GPX3000 C performs headspace analysis without opening, puncturing, or damaging the package.

Products remain intact after testing, allowing manufacturers to reduce waste and increase sampling frequency.

K
L
What gases can be measured?

The GPX3000 C can be configured for applications involving gases commonly used in modified atmosphere packaging and pharmaceutical packaging such as oxygen and carbon dioxide.

Contact Gasporox to discuss your specific gas measurement requirements.

How do I know if my package can be measured?

The best way is to discuss your application with Gasporox.

Our team can evaluate:

  • Container material
  • Container geometry
  • Closure type
  • Fill level
  • Gas composition

To determine measurement feasibility and expected performance.

As a general rule of thumb, if the flashlight on your smartphone can be seen through the packaging material, the GPX3000 C can often measure through it as well. In these cases, the key consideration typically becomes finding the optimal measurement position and ensuring the container dimensions are suitable for the application.

Because packaging materials, shapes, and product formulations vary, Gasporox can perform a feasibility evaluation to verify compatibility and identify the best measurement approach for your specific container.

Technology

Our instruments and sensors are built on more than 25 years of development and refinement in industrial laser-based gas measurement. The system uses Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS), a highly reliable and precise method for non-destructive headspace gas analysis.

Developed by Gasporox in collaboration with its technology partners, this laser sensor technology is widely used in demanding industries such as pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, and energy.

Gasporox’s laser-based headspace analysis has been successfully deployed for over a decade in pharmaceutical manufacturing. It is integrated into fully automated inspection systems and benchtop instruments for 100% in-line and laboratory testing of vials, ampoules, and other parenteral packaging formats. The performance and robustness of the system have been validated through extensive real-world use.
