AutoMAP™ Food
SENSOR MODULE FOR NON-DESTRUCTIVE IN-LINE MEASUREMENTS
In-line Non-Destructive Headspace Analysis for Food Packaging
The AutoMAP™ Food sensor module is designed for non-destructive headspace analysis (HSA) and integrates directly in-line on existing production lines or into packaging and quality assurance machines. Using a highly sensitive laser, it accurately measures oxygen levels in a wide range of food packaging formats, including high- and low-concentration MAP applications.
How does it work?
Powered by advanced laser-based optical spectroscopy, AutoMAP™ Food enables up to 100% in-line quality inspection of residual oxygen in Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP). It delivers precise measurements for both low and high oxygen concentrations across a wide range of food products.
As each package passes under the sensor, the module gently creates a vacuum on the flexible film to form a temporary bubble. A laser beam is then transmitted through the bubble, allowing for accurate, non-destructive measurement of the oxygen content inside the package using our TDLAS technology.
Applications for the AutoMAP™ Food
The AutoMAP™ Food sensor is a non-destructive gas measurement system designed to detect both high and low concentrations of oxygen (O₂) in Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP).
It accurately measures the headspace gas content in a variety of food packaging formats, including trays, thermoformed containers, and flow-wrapped or form-fill-seal (FFS) packages. This makes it well suited for products such as fresh meat, ready meals, dairy items, baked goods, and other oxygen-sensitive foods.

Technology
The AutoMAP™ Food optical gas sensors are built on more than 25 years of development and refinement in industrial laser-based gas measurement. The system uses Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS), a highly reliable and precise method for non-destructive headspace gas analysis.
Developed by Gasporox in collaboration with its technology partners, this laser sensor technology is widely used in demanding industries such as pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, and energy.
Gasporox’s laser-based headspace analysis has been successfully deployed for over a decade in pharmaceutical manufacturing. It is integrated into fully automated inspection systems and benchtop instruments for 100% in-line and laboratory testing of vials, ampoules, and other parenteral packaging formats. The performance and robustness of the system have been validated through extensive real-world use.
